Darwin, well Darwin is stupidly hot. Mary, Agnas and I attempted to see the City on our own. So we headed for the Botanical Gardens, literally a fifteen minute walk from our hostel. I have never sweated so much in my life, the funny thing is its not the heat its the humidity up here. Anyhow we did get to see the gardens, and a beach which really was more like a swamp. It wasnt until we returned from Kakadu, and Mary and I found Mindril Beach, which is a bus ride away. Now that Beach is lovely, nice to see a Beach after the adventure we have just undertaken. We also felt as if we needed a bit of culture in our lives, so we visited the museam and learnt about the Northern territories million and one ways to die! Be it spider, Snake, shark, Croc, or even Cyclone... really really come to Australia “you might accidently get killed!” (reminds me of a song....)Anyhow was quite interesting really, especially that the city we were in now, has been rebuilt numerous times, after Japanese bombings and cyclone damge. The highlight of Darwin was definately the pool we had at the hostal and the fact i battered my eye lids and got as a hotel room instead of a dorm room...that was nice.
The nightlife was a bit quite due to it being wet season (off season), but we made our own as always. A welsh boy and Mary sang at the bar which was so funny and we met up with the Germans again, Tanja and Marie, and watched some live music by the pool on the Sunday. Overal its not my favourite city in the world, but its ok, and it is the gateway to Kakadu.
