Day 7
Woke to the sound of hysterical laughing from the smaller two.
Grace still extremely unhappy and was given an ultimatum this morning! The Alice Springs airport isn't that far if she really wants to go home now is the time to say.
She has buried her head in her DVD!
Back on the road making a b-line for Uluru, excitement mounting!
Crossed the SA / Northern Territory border!
"Are we in the phone zone Dad?" Olivia shouts from the back
Stopped into Curtain Springs roadhouse for diesel and water. Curtain Springs is a working cattle station owned by the Severin Family and named after the premier of SA of the day.The road house was opened in 1956, that first year they had 6 visitors. They have 30-40 bus loads daily! The Curtain Springs property encompasses Mt Connor to the south.
$5 on the line for the first one to spot Uluru. (all a bit confused by Mt Connor) when we finally saw the rock in the distance JD shouted so loudly I nearly jumped out of my seat!
Olgas in the distance which I am equally excited about if not just a little bit more?! Both on our bucket lists!
470kms travelled and we booked into the camp site, well the gravelled area out the back of the camp ground which is the overflow camp site. It was chockablock as well, but all we required for the night. Kids had a quick swim, Tasmanians the only ones in the unheated pool. Climbed the nearest dune behind our van and joined a group of Grey Nomads, to watch the sunset on the rock, absolutely spectacular!
Uluru is even more amazing than we were expecting!
