Day 26 3rd August Jabiru to Cooinda
Packed up from Kakadu Lodge, Jabiru and went south to access other regions of Kakadu. Checked into Cooinda Lodge and campground (we booked ahead). Called Mimi for her birthday.
Matilda- We walked to a billabong, we took photos. Dad was being silly and going close to the edge looking for crocodiles. Then we went to the aboriginal shop (cultural centre) We watched a turtle getting eaten on TV, I learnt that when they went fishing that have a big net made of grass and the fish swim in and they can't get back out again. We saw message sticks, like email sticks, it's like sending messages on your phone but it was a pattern burned on the stick. Someone, like a mail man, would give the stick to someone and he would walk to their cave and give it to them. One stick said 'come and have a conference but come at goose eating time'; another one was 'sending problems' one was not there was for 'old people'. Then we got ice cream at the shop.
We went back to the camp site and had a swim. I watched a movie in the front of the car. Dad cooked steak and we had chips and Caesar salad.

The girls had made friends with another couple of kids at the pool they went off to find them while we got dinner ready. Grace had been told by the kids that an aboriginal bush tucker treat was to lick the butt of a green and yellow sugar ant! Lucky for Grace her ant wasn't just a plain green ant cause apparently those ones are poisonous!!
