My 7 days in Estonia have been great! Allison and I have had such a great time! Last night we ate at a traditional Estonia restaurant and had a meal of rosolje (beet, herring, and potato salad), mulgikapsad (a pork and sauerkraut soup), and a desert of Vanaema's kook which is sort of like a lemon square but with jam under a crumbly topping! It was great and I had fun trying the new foods! In the summer months in Estonia, there are 24 hours of light, not complete light, but not complete dark either. In the night, the sky looks like a sunset. It is amazing to see, and you don't have to worry about fitting everything into your day and it getting dark! 3 days ago, Allison and I toured the Alexander Nevsky cathedral. This cathedral was built in 1900 to show the Russain empire's dominance over the Baltic territtory. The cathedral was dedicated to prince Alexander Nevsky who led the Battle of the Ice, which stopped German crusaders in their east advance. The inside of the cathedral is amazing, fillled with mosaic and so many works of art! Going to the cathedral was such an amazing experience!
