G'Day Y'all,
Apologies for not updating this thing for a while. Gets a little tricky when your sailing around the Whitsunday Islands for a couple of days. This tour is nothing short of breathtaking. I'm having such a great time and pretty much everyone with the odd exception are brilliant. It's been a fun packed few days here with the highlight being sailing around the Whitsunday Islands. Absolutely awesome. The beaches are like something you see on the front cover of a catalogue. I also volunteered to help on the yacht and was involved with the 'grinding' which has nothing to do with R Kelly but mainly hoisting the sails. Today I had the chance to steer the yacht as well which was pretty cool if not a little scary. Yesterday we all went snorkelling. I dabbled with snorkelling back at Manly Beach but this was completely different. The Whitsundays are almost on the Great Barrier Reef so I got to see loads of coral and the different coloured fish were amazing. It was slightly daunting to begin with but you get used to it after a few seconds and it really is like another world under the sea. I have to say I'm really looking forward to Cairns now and scuba diving!
In the meantime, we've also checked out Rockhampton. It's a very quiet place and unfortunately we had to spend an extra day there because our Fraser Island trip was cancelled because of the cyclone. Rockhampton is an okay place but reminded me slightly of 'The Hills Have Eyes' film. We went to a pub/gambling place called 'POKIES'....rock on. There was a guitarist guy playing and he was so bad it was actually funny and really made the evening. He murdered Hotel California good and proper.
We also spent a couple of days at Surfers Paradise but the weather wasn't all that good so spent the most of the time in the shopping centres.
You've seen the photos but I have to mention the Byron Bay Surf Camp. What an awesome few hours that was. Such a great laugh and I really wouldn't mind checking out surfing again in the future, along with snorkelling and sailing etc.
Tonight we're heading out for a few beers but really shouldn't over indulge because we have a seven hour coach journey to Undarra. We should be getting there just as the sun is setting over the volcano....nice
Hoping to update the blog again soon and must show you all the photos from the Whitsundays. When I get to Cairns I'll update them.
Hope everyone is doing cool back home!!
Love you all!
Dan
