Blog Day 172 Tues 25th October 2011
Up early today to drive to the spit which is a beach area located just outside of the main beach surfers. Here we sort out some breakfast & have a good tidy up of the van. The thing about travelling is the constant pile of washing. We look forward to the day when we no longer have to purchase tokens to do our washing. Drying clothes is a nightmare too, the constant tumble-drying is now taking its toll on our clothes, meaning that most of Dan's stuff almost fits Trish, and most of Trish's clothes could now be used to dress up a Barbie doll!
After an hour or so Trish has the back of the van tidy & Dan has the front sorted. We check out the beach for a bit as it's blinding hot today & then we have the task of trying to find somewhere to stay tonight. All down the coast so far if we haven't been in a 'freebie' hostel we've been staying at all the free rest stops possible. Usually they have toilets that are much better than the toilets in Thailand & if you're lucky a shower, usually one thats freezing cold mind but at least you can stay clean. In a city however it's typical that you can't just park up anywhere & we don't fancy paying $30 (£19) again for a patch of concrete outside of a hostel. So after trawling around half of Surfers we end up on the road & heading further out of the city. Still the cheapest campsite's we find are still almost $35 (£23).We eventually give up & end up in a tourist park in Tallebudgera. Fortunately is has 2 huge pools & hot showers so that's the rest of the afternoon sorted, a little bit of story time & sunbathing. Dinner tonight is a hunt for cheap Tuesday Domino's. YUMMY!
