Today we woke up around 8 or 8 and a half (8:30) for breakfast. We had brochen(spelling?) and different types of meat. There was Prechute(spelling?)(thinly sliced ham that grandma Alice always has at christmas time) which made Danny very happy!! After breakfast we went back to our apartment and got changed for the full day that laid ahead. First we went to a supermarket-it was a lot like a K-Mart-so that Danny could buy a new camera so that we could post our pictures on the web for everyone to see. It is a great camera and we will be able to upload them onto the computer. Once we are able to get internet on our laptop we will be able to upload them for you all to see (it will probably be on thursday or friday). Following the supermarket, we went into East Berlin. We first went to take a tour of the Reichstag, the German parliment building. The picture on this blog is a picture of the dome that we were able to walk to the top of. The pictures from up there are awesome! After the Reichstag, we walked to where the U.S. Embassy was-just in case! After the Embassy we got back into the car and drove over to Alexander Platz and the Nikolai quarter. It was all very beautiful. We walked for about four hours today. We sat down at a little cafe right outside the concert houses near the French and Berlin Domes. We had a little drink and listened to a Russian guitarist (Stalin's favorite music was played) then continued our walk toward Nikolai quarter. The quarter was very nice. We left the quarter (100 pictures later) and headed back toward the house. We stopped at a little bar that Leigh's dad used to drink at called Berliner Kenipe-by the witch. The beer was very good (much better than American beer)! After we had a drink or two at this bar, we walked over to the old church across the street then walked back home through the park. It took about 15 minutes to get back home. When we got back we changed clothes and put our dirty clothes in the LAUNDRY!!! We had another drink while we waited for dinner to be ready. Dinner was potato salad, chicken wings, and Vienna sausage. It was very good! After dinner, we spoke to Leigh's mom and grandma on Skype. Now we are just updating everyone on our daily activities and look forward to updating you all about our tour of West Berlin tomorrow.
We are going to play cards and have a few more drinks the rest of the night and hopefully we'll be up in time for breakfast tomorrow!
