We are now in Frankfurt, Germany! We woke up this morning around 9:00am (later than we have been waking up) and Peti had already left for work (we said bye to her last night). Peter was waiting for us with breakfast before we had to leave for the train station. We left around 10:40 for the station and got to the station at 11:10am. The train pulled out of the station at 11:37. There was not much time to spare considering we had to get our Eurail pass validated. Luckily we found an English speaking ticket person which helped tremendously. Since we are riding first class (thanks Mr. B!) the train ride was very pleasant. We were given cmplimentary chocolates (white chocolate shaped like a soccer ball - so good!) But they hosed Danny when he asked for a water and was charged 3 euros! The ride through the country side was GORGEOUS! Little German sheep/farm towns along huge mountain sides. It was like all the pictures of Germany you see on postcards and books. Simply beautiful. All in all, the train ride took about 4 hours, it wasn't bad at all.

We arrived in Frankfurt, after taking several train pictures, around 3:40pm. We immediately went to the ticket booth and reserved our seats for tomorrow's trek to Munich. (only 10 euros to reserve 2 seats). We are staying at a hotel here, not a hostel, called Hotel Europa. It is nice enough for us. We have our own bathroom and free internet. We have the pictures uploading right now, they will probably be finished by the time we go to bed, so perfect timing for everyone back home in the states. We are going to go walk around Frankfurt, look for a place to eat, and probably watch Germany play Croatia in soccer (soccer seems like the only sport in Europe - plus the Euro cup is going on right now).

We will update again when we get to Munich tomorrow. We will arrive there approximately at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and Jaime (one of Leigh's roomies from Eckerd) is going to meet us at our hostel. Wiedersen!

There wasn't much for us to do here in Frankfurt, especially since it was raining all night and we had no idea where to go. We did find a little bar across the street from our hotel called Baselar Eck. It was small and quiet, plus the menu outside the door was in English as well as in German. We were able to eat dinner and watch the soccer games there. After dinner, we walked around a few blocks and saw a bunch of business buildings and a few small restaurants (turkish, pakistani, indian). We decided that it was best to just go back to the room and watch T.V. since we hadn't done that at all on our trip so far. German T.V. is rather entertaining; especially the channel that we think resembled the shopping network. We're sure Munich will be much better.
