Hello! We have just arrived in Krabi, and so far not that impressed but we will see! Ko Phi Phi is amazing - by far the best place we have both ever been to. Its just like everything you look at should be on a postcard or in a film. We stayed at a place called Oasis II Guesthouse, which was very basic, but nice and cheap, double bed with a fan and en suit for 400 baht a night, so about 6quid. The only problem was that half way around the world, and scousers still have to ruin things for everyone! from about 12 am until 2am, constant banging and drunken shouting from out side our room whilst they chatted to some northern girl who was next door to us. Then after they went out, about 5am-6am one of them wanted to get into the room so banged on the door for an hour until i told him to go away, obviously not as polite as that! But other than that, and the cockroach in our room, it was fault less. The island was perfect and very unlike the rest of thailand, no traffic, no one trying to force you to buy stuff, just the occasional person asking if you want a taxi boat, and no lady boys **Sigh of relief**!!!
The main beach on the island was set in the middle of a bay staring out into the ocean, clear, hot water and lime stone cliffs wither side, it was just amazing. We walked/swam out over 100m and the water still no more than waist high, and we saw a sea horse, amongst the other various fish! There was so many good places to eat and drink on the island as well, but all very compact and close together, but no more expensive than Patong Beach in Phuket, probably cheaper! And every 200m was a pancake stand so our diet was not the best for those 4 days!
On the 2nd day (maybe the 3rd, easy to lose track) we went for an island day trip, where we basically went snorkeling in Phi Phi Lay (where the beach was filmed(maya bay)), Shark point (no sharks though) , Bamboo island, where we saw a huge eel, must have been over 6ft, as well as a trigger fish and the normal brightly coloured fish you get around the coral, before heading off to Monkey Beach where we badly kayaked to shore, from our boat and again, no monkies, which was a bit disapointing, but apparently they have been biting people as of late so wasn't too upset! All that for 700baht per person, which is just over a tenner in english money, with lunch included!
Then Yesterday, we just decided to chill out at the beach and in the sea before packing up and watching the sun set over the bay, an amazing sight, we had a beautiful sunset (the cover pic) and to the left a stunning deep blue sky, and then to the right of it thunder and impressive tropical lightning! It was so sureal, but so impressive, will never ever forget the sight! Which was the perfect way for us to finish off our last night in Phi Phi! But i think we will have to go back with a better budget at some point!
Anyway, thats about all from Phi Phi, off to Ko Samui in a few days, and hoping that Krabi has more to offer than we have seen so far!!! Will be in touch soon, hope all is well at home
