Hey, we are currently in Patang Bay in Phuket which is an island off the main land in the south of Thailand. Since we last wrote we have been up in Chang Mai to do some jungle treking, which was supposed to be 3 days but soon turned into 2 days as it was a bit ambitious for our first ever trek! Basically we arrived off the night train from Ayuttiya into Chang Mai at about 8am(ish) and got picked up and taken to our hostel which was called B.M.P (Backpackers Meeting Point) which was almost like a hotel, it had a nice pool, bar and live music, and our room was big with a hot shower (first hot shower in 2 weeks!)! So we relaxed that day and had a wonder round, and we found a nice bar/restraunt called 'Mad Dog' which served good english food,. which made a nice change from the huge amounts of Thai food we had been eating as of late! Anyways, the next day we took about an hour drive to the start of our jungle trek in the Chang Mai rainforest. On the trek we were with a Canadian and Aussie couple, 2 belgium girls and a couple from Holland, so a nice little mix. We walked for about 5-6 hours pretty much all up hill, which took it out of all of us, espicially in the humidity and heat! Once we finally got to our camp, which was to put it nicely, very basic, our sleeping 'area' was a big bamboo hut with a sleeping bag for everyone and 4 mozzi nets, that was it. We then had to put up with the local comidian who's english basically covered the words 'Oh My Budda', which have haunted us ever since. After a better than expected night sleep, we headed up a bit more, before a slow decent down, past a waterfall and towards an elephant riding place (again) this one turned out to be alot more exciting than the one in Kanchanaburry, but the elephants didnt seem to be as well looked after, and kind of put a bad taste in our mouths. After the ride, we went onto the river to do some more bamboo rafting (...again) which also was alot more fun than the last time! After getting very, very wet we were driven back to the BMP to relax and dry off (our boots have only just dried off!) The next day was Danny's birthday, so we decided to go out for a slap up meal at this nice place called the Chang Mai Saloon, which was definatly needed! The next day, was another day of relaxing before meeting up with the other people from our trek to go to the night market before heading to a bar which served some english beers ( I say english but meaning stella and Carlsberg etc...) anyways after a few, the other decided to go back to the hostel, but we thought we would get some food, but as we went to leave the waitresses all gathered round, trying to get us to have another drink, so I did, about 10minutes later, I couldn't see, and could barely walk, Zoe just thought I couldn't handly the 3 beers i had!!! Once we got the another bar which was serving food and ordered a big pizza, I needed to go home as I felt like I was going to pass out... Started to walk home and then threw up... loads!!! Then we came to the conclusion that my drink had been spiked by possible Lady Boys! Next morning I felt rough but other than that was ok, and we got the night train back to Bangkok for 1 night and then a massive, 18 hour bus ride down to Phuket (which was horrible!)
Okay, so once we had made it to Phuket after several 'Selling stops' by the driver, we arrived with no where to stay so decided to wonder round and find some where to stay. We found a place called Jaranya Guest house, which as we were staying here for 5nights, we managed to get for 379baht a night, which is about 6quid, and again, its like a hotel. A nice bed, hot water, tv and even a fridge!!!! Im running out of time here, so basically we have been on the beach (hich is about a 3 minute walk from our hostel) for the last 3 days, untill we were both hit by 'stomach problems' and Zoe also had some horrible pain in her food pipe, so after a grimn day for the toilet, I felt alot better, but Zoe still had this pain, so i forced her to go to the doctors! The doctor said she has an 'Inflammed Osofagus'(food pipe) and has to have a liquid diet for the next few days! So we are staying put here for another few days until she is better! Having problems getting the photo's up atm, Zoe has added them on her Facebook though, and Il try and get em on here when i get a chance! Hope alls well at home, and we will write again once we get back from Ko Phi Phi (our next stop)!!!
