Arriving in BA we were very excited! Everyone we'd spoken to had told us that its similar to La Paz (a trap) but modern, and they were right! We arrived on the Friday just in time for the first football game of the World Cup, so the BA carnage began from there. We stayed at the New Milhouse which is known as the party hostel of BA because they have something going on each night. We went to watch a drum band one night which was incredible, a group of guys in boiler suits making some incredible music in a warehouse type of club, very cool. We hit Pacha on the Satuday night which was one of our best nights in a long time, but getting to bed at 9am after an all day session and night out isnt always a good idea, lol!
We met a group of lads from Engalnd and a couple were talking about going to Uruguay for a few days so we decided to go together as we were planning on going at some point. This was a well needed escape as our bodies were beggining to severely hate us. But typical Sam and Dani style we ended up going out the night before and not getting to bed until 6.30am when we had to be up at 7.15am, oops! However, we take no responsibilty for this. It was Will's last night with us so he insisted that we went out.
We got back from Uruguay and we went out to a place called Club 69 which has got to be one of the weirdest things we've ever seen. It starts of with some extremely fit guys doing some amazing break dancing, before going into a ladyboy show, sex show then mix of all three! Very odd but at the same time you couldnt help but watch! Another club we went to was Crowbar which was really good, we caught up with the Manchester lot again and after having a good bop were asked to leave because they wanted to close up and us two and Rochelle wanted to keep partying =)
Originally we were meant to leave BA on Saturday night but this got moved to Monday, luckily for us because we hadn't done any sightseeing or been to the famous La Cabrera restaurant. So on Saturday daytime when most people were dying, Sam and Ant decided to do some sightseeing and for the first time Sam got to see something other than the hostel and the road to the supermarket! Later that night we went to a Tango show. Ant wasnt going to come but decided last minute that he would and had just as much fun as us. We started of with a tango lesson which had everyone in stitches especially when Dani and Ant were asked to demonstrate how you ask someone to dance the Tango. Ant's normal technique of signaling to come over with his hand was not appropriate so he was taught the stance and head flick which was very entertaining. There were only 4 lads in the group so they had to take it in turns asking the 15 or so girls to dance, even more entertaining for us! Considering it was our first time dancing Tango we think we all did really good and so must the teacher because we all got a certificate, wooo something else for the CV..Hobbies and interests: dancing Tango!
After our lesson we went into the concert hall where we got a three course meal and unlimited alcohol before watching an unbelievable show. It told a story of how tango had progressed through the years, both in technique and style (the boys loved the modern outfits where the women were wearing very little). They also got people up from the audience for a dance, Dani did very well! We were sat with a couple from England and an old guy called Greg who were all fun so afterwards we headed back to the hostel to carry on drinking, and show everyone the video Sam recorded of Ant seducing Dani with his head flick!
Dani didnt go out that night but Sam went to an underground club with some people from the hostel, apparently you had to pay to get in but she didnt, he he! It was very different from where we'd been before as it looked like we were in a basement but it was still pretty cool. The next morning we got up and went and did some sightseeing, we went to the markets in Recoleta and to the Cemetery where Evita was buried. The cemetery was very strange because the graves were like houses and the coffins were above the surface visible through glass panels, very freaky. After that we went to Palermo to another market then back to Milhouse to get ready to go to La Cabrera which is one of BA's famous restauarants. Although it seems pricey for travellers at 20pounds, to get the same meal at home you would be paying at least 80 pounds and as it is the best steak in Argentina and comes with some of the nicest condiments you could imagine (different sauces, mash potato, sweet mash potato etc) it was worth every penny and a definate must do!
