New years eve started with taxi to Bondi Beach about 20 mins out of sydney, and got ourselves our first full English cooked breakfast and cup of tea even thou we were baking in the heat of 30 degrees ourselves. Bondi is a huge, long beach and was pretty packed and occupied by the young and trendies, lots of fitness fanatics, blokes posing with their surf board and me and dan getting more and more sunburnt by the minute! The sea was clear and turquoise but absolutely freezing, so not much swimming for mr! Had a very lazy day on beach, bumped into a friend of dan's and then went for a mexican restaurant overlooking the beach passing on the way an outdoor gym for the mad people!
In the evening we got the train to the city centre along with a few million others all going to see the fireworks. It was pretty mobbed, people sitting anywhere and everywhere, most had since lunchtime to get a good view. We had tickets luckily for a bar opposite opera house just along from the bridge so had great view plus able to buy a glass of champagne if we wanted as everywhere had a ban on alcohol. Fireworks exploding behind the opera house was an amazing sight and had a great NYE. Although by 1.30 we had enough and left the hardcore to carry on as we started our journey home! No public transport and no taxis to be found we had no choice but to walk. Yes we got lost but the police were very helpful. Didn't offer us a lift thou!
Last day was in Manley Bay but don't feel like we've properly done Sydney so are looking into coming back after New Zealand if it can be worked by changing subsequent flights etc
Early start at 5.30am tomorrow n will be in on the furtherest point away from home by midday!...
