Our flight landed at 6.30am to a very chilly Melbourne and caught the Skybus from the airport into Melbourne city centre. Once there we caught a tram to St Kilda (a beach town south of the city) to our pub hostel. Once again, we'd managed to get a 6 dorm room full of men so again, I was the only girl so even though the room smelt of old socks and mens deodorant, we slept until late and had a really cheap pub dinner downstairs.
The next day we were able to catch a tram back into the city and have a look around. We booked a few tours and found the main tourist area, Federation Square which luckily had a comedy festival going on! We watched a few acts and then had a look around the vast shopping area (much to Craigs disgust!) The next few days comprised of pretty much the same, jumping on the tour bus to see the sights with brunch in Alberts Park on the days we overslept and missed breakfast and sitting in the sun in Federation Square arena watching various acts.
We have quickly realised that Australia has far too much for us to do and only 5 weeks to do it in so we have had to meticulously plan ahead, we bought an Australian sim card and booked all our accomodation for the rest of the East Coast and all our tours so we dont miss anything out- we have all nightbuses too so we dont miss a day! Speaking of tours... we wont deny that we did go on the Neighbours tour to Ramsay Street. We toured Erinsborough High School, saw the set and some filming and best of all went to Ramsay Street and had photos taken outside The Kennedy's house!
Although the temperature wasnt quite as high as Perth, Melbourne was beautiful and sunny the whole time. On our last day we had a huge Chicken Parma (an Australian chicken dish) at the pub downstairs and then caught the 12 hour overnight bus to Sydney via Canberra.
