This blog is going to cover Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay and Brisbane
Ok so after leaving Sydney we caught a night bus to Surfers Paradise, the bus journey was ok but they played the worst film i have possibly ever seen, luckily they made up for it by stopping at Mcdonalds for breakfast. We arrived at Surfers and caught the free minibus to our hostel Trekkers. The hostel was really good and the guy who owned it was really friendly. As it was Easter Sunday everything was closed so we had a little walk around but not much else to do. Next morning we had a walk around the park near our hostel and enjoyed the nice weather, in the afternoon we went down to the beach and soaked up some rays. As all the supermarkets close on and bank holiday we found a little italian restaurant that did all you can eat pizza and pasta. The next morning we again relaxed on the beach in the sun however as afternoon came so did the rain. So because of the rain we were forced to look around all the shops in the shopping centre.
We jumped on the bus to Byron Bay next day and checked into our hostel Backpackers Inn. The hostel was perfectly located 40 seconds walk from the beach, however the rain from Surfers followed us down to Byron so couldn't really do much. Luckily we met a really nice couple who were staying in our dorm so went out for a few drinks and dinner that night. Unfortunately the next day was the same bad weather so we spent the day reading, drinking and playing Uno with Patrick and Jenna and again went out for dinner at Cheeky Monkey's and drinks at CocoManga. The weather improved for 2 hours the next morning and all was suddenly hot. We headed to the beach while it lasted and enjoyed the best of Byron, Royal Wedding and pretty much every TV channel in Australia was covering it so we headed to the TV room filled with patriotic Brits and watched it all happen.
Next we went to Brisbane, this was a bit of a whistle stop tour, we got there late in the afternoon and had a quick walk round the city. We stayed in a hostel called Tinbillys which was quite new so all the rooms were nice and clean. Next day after some confusion about bank holiday bus timetables, we caught the bus to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the weather was really lovely and we had a great day feeding the Kangaroos, seeing the Dingo's and Platipus and Dani got to hold a Koala which she loved! We were up very early the next morning to catch our bus to Rainbow Beach for our Fraser Island tour.
