Today I was again, ultra exhausted. I woke up to news we kind of sorta had free time until 12:30pm. Thanks be to the Universe, I drug myself up to my room for a nap. About 20 minutes later, my hotel phone rang and the front desk tells me I have someone waiting for me. There were a few people I thought it was and I took my sweet time coming down there prepared to tell them I was definitely not shopping- but sleeping. Instead I was greeted by my jet-lagged partner in crime. I had no idea he was coming. In fact, I hadn't spoken with him in 9 days. I have never been so excited, confused, surprised, freaked-out, loved. It was awesome. We spent the next two hours and sadly, I had to leave for the brewery.
Brasserie du Bocq was really amazing. The countryside of Belgium is almost exactly what you may dream of. Farmlands and picturesque homes nestled in the hillsides. It is almost disgusting. I learned quite a bit at the brewery and the tasting was a really good time of commaraderie for me. I have been a bit distant from the group at large, partly from exhaustion, partly from my own battle with real life, grown-up problems. So all in all- it was a great experience.
The next leg of our journey was an extended time on the bus, full of hungry and grumbling travelers. I was also antsuy to get back to Tom but tried to enjoy the view and laugh at the dissention in the ranks.
Dinner did not dissappoint and whatever the cabbage had in it- I wanted more. We finally arrived back in Brussels and I was able to explore the city with my best friend and partner. Today has been the best day yet.
