Wow! I was exhausted today. Surprisingly, I enjoyed Antwerp much more than I thought. It was freezing cold and we were greeted by a very late bus and then a very enthusiastic guide-Christian. The streets and shops of Antwerp were beautiful. It felt much more quaint and old than Brussels has seemed. Christian was very informative and I enjoyed his input on the printing press and the Flanders. I learned that Flanders is indeed still the language of Dutch-which I have had to defend since this day. Christian explained that the Flanders version of Dutch is like the American dialect is to the British. He also told me the this part of Belgium is very open and loves inclusion. I experienced this at lunch with our server. He was kind and friendly and even though he called me ma'am, he still impressed me with his perfect English. Us Americans are so undereducated!
