Dan and Lu's Travels
More magnificent scenery for another 300km to Mackay. The road is pretty empty apart from the odd truck. The trees around here looked knarled and twisted and as though someone has scratched all their bark off. Think it was '80s Monday on the radio station we had on so did some sing-a-dance-a-longs to pass the time.
As we got closer to Mackay, the huge fields of sugar cane we've seen intermittently since Grafton appeared again. Mackay has a main town and a marina about 6km north east. Went and had a drink by the marina which is by a huge sugar refinary, you have to cross train tracks to get there. Everywhere you see sugar cane you see the fields cut through with small train tracks for transporting it; to places like this I suppose.
