Dan and Lu's Travels
Arrived in DC on Sunday midday after an overnight journey from Nashville. We spent Saturday afternoon in Tennessee State Museum which was really interesting, lots of stuff about slavery and the civil war and loads of examples of old glory (the name of the USA flag) over the years - different designs and with various numbers of stars on it.
The journey from Nashville takes you over the Appalachian Mountain range into Virginia which is lush and feels expensive, apparantly lots of US presidents have had homes here. It's white picket fence country; rolling hills, very green and white clapboard houses. In fact there are so many white picket fences at times it felt like we were in the middle of a show jumping competition!
Themba picked us up from DC Greyhound station and took us to his flat in Silver Spring, which is about 20 miles out of DC in Maryland.
