Decided to walk down to the russian market, so called because the Russians shopped there in the 80s. It was only a few blocks down from our hotel on the map. We didn't realise how big the blocks were though.... and in the midday sun too. The market sold lots of western clothes, many are made in factories in Cambodia for western companies including Next and Gap. Dan bought a t-shirt, and I recovered from the heat. Got a tuk tuk to the Royal Palace as that loo...

We were up early for a trip to the Killing Fields of Chueong Ek. We squeezed into a car with 3 Americans. At 8.30am and 90 degree heat, squeezing up to strangers is not the first thing you want to do! But it is an ice breaker. They wanted to go shoot some guns so we had to go along with them. It was only abut 20 minutes drive but the roads are terrible. On normal roads it would have taken about 5 minutes! There are piles and piles of dirt and rubble eveywher...

Spent the day, from 8am to 5pm, travelling from Saigon, across the Moc Bai / Bavet border to Pnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. It was so hot. The border crossing wasn't that arduous (I can imagine some are) but it still took 2 hours. We got dropped at King's Guesthouse, which is in the book, and bargained a room for $4/night. It's boring, but clean and cheap! Had a wander and found the best bar we've been to since coming away. Its called Elsewhe...
