Dan and Lu's Travels
PART TWO After an 11 hour flight, we landed in LA at 3pm, it was still Thursday. We'd crossed the international date line, so,as the pilot pointed out, we got to do Thursday again. I'd got confused and booked the hostel for Friday instead of Thursday. I realised this during a very complicated and confusing conversation the other night in Fiji with some other people who were flying to LA, which ended intalks of time travel and other ridiculous things. So, after being interrogated at customs we got a taxi to our hostel, hoping they'd have room for us for tonight.
Our hostel turned out to be on Hollywood Boulevard, exactly opposite the Kodak Theatre, where the Oscars are held! As we pulled up to the hostel there were hundreds of people liningthe streets, a red carpet out and lots of media around. It turned out to the premiere for the new Pixar flick, Cars, and as the limos started to arrive we went out to spot celebs. We saw Sean Connery,Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart and Eva Mendes, plus lots of people we didn't know. We'd only been in Hollywood half and hour!
We walked up and down Hollywood Boulevard and found a bar that we thought we'd be ableto watch the England game on Saturday. Our waiter was far too efficient so we drank quite a lot. He was called Richard and was very camp; we invited himto have a drink with us when he finished his shift, whihc he did, and brought us many free drinks from the bar too... By the time we went to bed we'd been up about 36 hours, and it was only the early hours of Friday morning.
