Dan and Claire go worldwide
The next installment of the Dan and Claire adventure....
Firstly, thankyou for all your messages and emails. They are all much appreciated, although we have been too bust to reply to them as yet. Keep them coming!!
On the night of our last installment we headed out on our first night out on the town in Buenos Aires. The night didnt get off to the best start however as a sweedish girl fell through a huge patio window and got taken to hospital. Most people were a bit too drunk, including Dan of course! Met some lovely people in our hostel tho (sorry we missed your party Marina...let us know how the new flat goes!So glad u managed to get our address).
Only one negative to say about Buenos Aires (apart from the dog poo Sian...ur so right its everywhere!!), and one of our last memories of the place was Dan getting totally ripped off by a taxi man!! The worst part was that we actually tipped him aswell before we got out of the cab and checked the change was totally wrong! Guess it was going to happen at some point though!
On saturday evening we travelled up to Iguazu Falls on the Argentine side on an overbight bus. The journey was about 16 hours but very comfortable with great service. We had full on reclining seats, A/C, meals and champagne!! first class service for next to nothing.
We arrived here yesterday and went for a half day visit to the waterfalls. It is absolutely amazing, so beautiful, the photos (which are to be put up soon!) just dont to it justice. Honestly, it is absolutley breathtaking, just uinbelivable. And yes, we found the sunshine...we had torrential rain that kept us indoors the day before we left Buenos Aires. Its a bit humid though, but cant complain.
We went there again today and it just got even better! We booked a tour we started off with a 4x4 truck drive through the jungle where we saw cool trees, flowers and LOADS of butterflies! We then got onto a speedboat which took us through rapids on the way to the waterfalls, so cool. When we arrived there we were then dunked under what we thought was a big waterfall, but then we were driven on the boat to the second biggest waterfall there and dunked under at the bottom, we got absolutely drenched!! So awesome!! After that we went onto the island in the middle of the park and lied on the beach (the first one we have seen!) where there were loads of little fish in the sea. The rest of today was spent walking the trails around the park, looking at the waterfalls from all the different angles.
Tonight is our last night in Argentina, as tommorow we are crossing the border into Brazil. We will both be very sad to leave Argentina, as we have had such an amazing time over the last week and a half (yeah, cant believe its been such a short time either!). Looking forward to the beaches and the sunshine, although not spending the pennies as Brazil is apparently 3 times more expensive than here. oh well!! We are going to the Foz de Iguazu, the other side of the waterfalls on the Brazilian side. Apparently it is not as good as you cant get as close, although the panoramic views are supposed to be good. We will probably check it out before we go on our travels through the rest of Brazil.
Dans turn. claires missed out some vital info, i.e. the people we have met on our travels, u know who u are klaus, marina, and the rest. met people from all over the world, and its been great going out and having beers with such diverse characters. (the drunken pics are on there way- on a real crap computor at the mo). the bars and clubs are quality, and palermo is where its at-the trendy side. met english people who have moved there and id almost consider doing the same!
been to more markets aswell, thought id escape shopping back home with claire, but guess what-they have everything from the poor selling to the wealthy and large malls.
as claire said we are now deep(ish) in the rainforest- iguazu falls- and it is unbelievable. the waterfalls and the many tens of rivers that run from them are beautiful, the heat gets to u tho, especially climbing the many stairs that take u up the cliff sides. but the wasps aint taking too kindly to clairy normster!
al, keep the emails coming mate-intrigued by the man-u thing, and its so nice hearing from the extended family. keep em coming intrigued by whats going on back at home.
Much love to you all. We will update you again from the other side very soon with pics!!
Missing you all. xxxxxxxxxxcxxxx
