Cairns:
We arrived in Cairns and stayed there for about 3 weeks. We managed to get 10 days of working for accommodation work (basically work for 3 hours a day and get your bed for the night and evening meal free) as cleaners at one of the hostel. Not the most pleasant of experiences but needed to be done as we were running really low on the old cash front!! The highlight of the experience being when we had to change a 40 year old guys mattress as he had had a little too much to drink and managed to wet the bed... lovely! That was really nice! A highlight as I am sure you would all agree?! In Cairns we also met up again with Carrie and Selina AGAIN! and spent a day going up the coast to Port Douglas and Palm Cove beach. We even saw our first snake! A yellow bellied tree snake, funnily enough climbing a tree! The highlight of our Cairns trip was spending a day snorkeling on The Great Barrier Reef. The water was so clear and still. As the boat was approaching our snorkeling spot a guy on the boat pointed out a Massive Sting Ray and a couple of reef sharks! Then we had to get in the water!! It was amazing the amount of sea life you see. It was fantastic! We really enjoyed Cairns as it was very chilled but had craziness if you wanted it or could afford it!! We spent most of our time being by the man made Lagoon which was a free swimming pool next to the sea to cool people off as there is no beach in Cairns and it is so humid there! We left Cairns in a relocation camper van down to Brisbane. A relocation is when a company needs a van in another city and gives you a certain amount of days to get it down there, the best thing is it was about 2 pound fifty a day to hire it and you got some of your petrol paid for too!! Happy Days!!
