Lets take this gig global!!
Alrighty guys,
well its been about a week since my last update so I bet you are all gagging to hear my news hey?!! haha, well maybe not but here it is anyways!
Now, so far in NZ you may have heard me rambling on about how stunning the scenery is and all that, well I have managed to put some of my first NZ pics up on the site so now you can have a gander and get a glimpse of what Im talking about!! They are under NZ pics 1. Pretty impressive im sure you'll agree!!
Right, anyways, I have finally escaped Queenstown after spending nearly a week there doing allsorts of crazy stuff and generally spending far too much money!! Queens was exactly what I had imagined to be fair and a really nice, funky resort town with the perfect location of the lake on one side and the mountians on the other. I said my goodbyes to Chris and Hannah on Friday as they headed off to Wanaka and looked forward to my boarding the following day. Well, what can I say?? After a week of non-stop worrying about conditions etc, it turned out that I couldnt have picked a better three days to do it!! Man, someone up there was looking out for me last weekend! After a record dumping on Friday it was fresh pow everywhere from saturday onwards and clear blue skies too!! I had three of the best days riding I have had in a while!! Quality snow, a good mountain, perfect weather and immense people to ride with! We did everything, backcountry knee deep powder tracks, some park time and general new-stylee jibbing all over the place! Man, we rode hard and I was completely shattered everynight! Im still a little sore now!
So the snowboarding was sweet as and i cant wait to get my next 'fix' asap! Was also nice to have a little luxury for a couple of days as part of my package was a swanky hotel with swimming pool and spa!! Pimp pad basically!! Nice!!
After my 3 days were up i moved back into the hostel and celebrated hard on Monday night with all the peeps I had met and ridden with and then somehow managed to get up on Tuesday and do the Shotover jet boating where they hoon it round the shotover canyons at upto 80km/hr in just 4 inches of water and skim rocks and cliffs pulling 360 spins in the process!! Wicked fun if not a little cold!!
But, like I said, time and money was getting short so i had to move on yesterday. I am now in Wanaka which is equally if not more impressive scenery wise and nice and mellow. Just what I need after the crazy days in Queens!
will put another update on asap!
Still enjoying the sun hey?!
