Lets take this gig global!!
Alright guys,
well, after I last left you on wednesday, a pretty heavy night ensued with Sam and I having some swift pints at the bar where he works, then onto a couple of other joints before finishing up in some sort of student club/bar. My memory is a little patchy but we ended up back at Sams gaff at 5am ringing all the boys from home! I wouldnt be looking at the phone bill too soon Sam!! haha
It was a great night and nice to hang with some actual kiwis for a change rather than the untold English and Irish im so used to by now!
I finally felt human again by Friday and awoke to beautiful blue skies so was up and at it early doors. I left Mangos' place and checked into a hostel with the aim of meeting somebody driving northwards then toured around the city getting all the photos I had wanted before but didnt cos of the crap weather, also ventured up the Cable car and walked back down through the gardens which was a nice stroll. I didnt meet anyone driving in the end so had to book the bus to Napier and that night i was supposed to meet Sam and his housemates for a quiet fairwell drink which unfortunately ended up being another messy one and me not rocking back until 3:30am and had to be up at 6:30am to catch my bus!! Not good!
I made it up fine and all was welll until after breakfast when my stomach was REAL BAD! Didnt know what was going on down there but something wasnt right! I got on the bus anyways to face two of the worst hours of my life! My god ity was bad, by far the worst journey of my trip! Absolute hell! But I made it to Napier just releived that I didnt have to stop the bus at any point!
Napier itself was a pleasant surprise. The weather was stonking (I put a pair of shorts on for the 1st time in 5 weeks!!) and its known as 'Deco City' due to its famous Art Deco Architecture. Its everywhere and I really did like it. The beach (pebble) and the parade is just like an Enlgish seaside town but the rest feels more like Miami than Bogner Regis!! With the light pastel coloured buildings and palm trees it gives off a really nice warm, clean atmosphere. Also walked up to the Mt Bluff lookout which was quality. Defo a place I would come back to especially in summer!
Today I made the short trip over to Taupo and unfortunately left the weather behind. Once again its raining!! The main reason to come here is for all the outdoor activites around the lake (the biggest in NZ) but with the weather like this even the idea of going out is a turn off!! I was hoping to do a skydive here aswell but we will have to wait on the weather situation. Im going to give it two days and just hope it clears up.
well, I'll keep ya posted, ta ta for now
