Danny's Summer '06 Study Abroad
A big group of us left for Dublin Thurs. night. That night we got a taste of Guiness, which everyone says tastes so much better there. We got a glimpse of Irish music that night, which is absolutely awesome and we saw a beautiful night view of the bridges over the river. The next day we went to Trinity College, which houses the book of Kells and an ancient library. Then we walked through the midieval area, seeing some old churches and castles. Then we headed to the Guniess storehouse and did the tour there, which was a lot cooler than the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam. Then we walked forever towards the old jail, and got there after closing time, but we walked in b/c no one was at the gate and we caught the end of the tour. That night we went out to the pubs and listened to some more Irish music, b/c it is so jolly and fun to clap along to. The next day all 18 of us went on a tour of the countryside. We split up into 2 vans and our driver, Tommy, was such a lively old Irish man who was so much fun. We saw some amazing views of mountains and lakes and the ancient ruins of Glendalock, an old Celtic village dating back to 500-1000 AD. Check out my descriptions on my pics. We got back from that and then took the DART to Howth, a little port city w/ just one street but an amazing view of the Ireland EYE (island). Sunday we went to a park and did some shopping then took the DART to another port city, Malahide. We didn't see much of the port there but we had a lot of fun at the playground. Ireland was beautiful, I wish I could have seen the other side, but surprisingly Dublin was a lot better than I thought it would be.
