Starting the day with Lauren's "Breakfast of Champions", crepe with chocolate filling, ice cream, cream and chocolate sauce, we headed off to find a hop on hop off bus to have a look around the greater Paris. With weather predictions in the mid 30's, we were in for a hot day. Buying a day pass ticket on an open top bus with the creatively named "Big Bus Company" we headed towards Basilica du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre.
With my stomach still churning away, we used the "hop off" feature of the trip to visit McDonalds for a pit stop (no more info required). Eventually arriving at the base of the 310 stairs around 12.00pm (great planning), we clambered up in about 35 degrees. Amazingly, the place was still very busy, especially for the guys selling cold water at the top. The queue to enter the Basilica was fairly long, but the relief from the heat once inside, was truly welcomed.
Heading back down, we stopped at the base for a warm beer for Dad and ice cream and coke for Lauren (what is it with this kids diet..), but my poor old tummy just wasn't up to much more torture. We headed back to our apartment to rest up through the heat of the afternoon.
The twilight here is exceptional. We headed out at about 8.00pm in what appeared to be full daylight for a river cruise along the Seine. It had cooled off sufficiently to make this a very enjoyable evening out. We encountered a bit of a boofhead on the cruise that insisted he, and his party, should be allowed to take the chairs from the forward cabin outside onto the deck of the boat, keeping in mind, this is a 1 hour cruise.. After some rather loud discussion with the crew, he relinquished, but insisted on placing his chair smack bang in the middle of the doorway. After all the commotion, there were two Adam and Lauren size spots, smack bang in the middle, at the very front of the deck, just perfect for us… Boofhead spent the hour looking at my back…
Our plan was to have dinner at a restaurant at the top of the Trocadero, looking back towards the Eiffel Tower. The tower is illuminated, but on the hour, the strobe lights come on for 5 minutes. We managed to catch the midnight light show, before heading home. The tummy is starting to feel a lot better…

Brenda Looks like U R both having a great time........wish I was there, it's cold here! Brenda x
Sid Dean Hi Adam and Lauren, Glad to see that your're having a great time in Paris! I hope you have a few days there as there is so much to see! A trip to the top of The Eiffel Tower of course is a "must " (if the queue is not too long) and maybe a climb up the "Notre-Damme Gothic Church to see the bells. You might run into the "Hunchback of Notre-Damme"! And there's also the Palace of Versailles and the Louvre if that's your thing plus a whole heap more that you have no doubt already earmarked! But you'd better not tell Lauren that there is a Disneyland in Paris, otherwise going on rides will not agree with "the tummy" if it's still bothering you! I trust that you're managing OK with the French language, although I suppose that English is pretty well universal now. This is a wonderful experience for Lauren and I'm sure that she is enjoying every minute. Love to both of you! Sid and Granddad
