Venice is absolutely amazing! The city is built out to sea on millions of wooden peers! It's such an interesting city to walk around! Canals everywhere, beautiful buildings and churches, gorgeous bridges and small hidden alleys. I'm so enchanted by the place!
The drive from Germany over to Italy was impressive we drove past snow covered alps and beautiful rolling green hills. It was defiantly a good drive, luckily too because it was a full day on the bus.
We arrived to our accommodation which is a camp site just out of venice. It's a really cool spot with a pool and canvas rooms as the tents. It feels like a real holiday here lounging by the pool and going for dinner out. I stuck with Nike and bennos who I met in Germany and we ended up getting a room together! We spent a day exploring Venice and funnily saw none of the tourist attractions as we were lost in the back streets. We had pizza for lunch and then some gelato. I have been so excited for Italy to experience the food, so far though Venice has disappointed me. It's much more touristy here so the food isn't as good quality, unless you want to pay a fortune. I have however found some amazing gelato right near our campsite. We wandered up there one lazy day by the pool and I fell in love. Bennos got a family size portion and ate it all. Mike has broken his foot so it was a mission getting there, but was defiantly worth it.
The first two days here had amazing weather. I got burnt by the pool and we had a late dinner at the restaurant and then went to a party the hostel bar was hosting. Nights are freezing here though especially in a tent!
It's raining and cold here now though, I'm huddled in my tent room under four blankets! Think it will be a quiet one, I'm lucky to have gotten all my sight seeing out of the way the first few days!
There was an earth quake in Italy last night! Three people were killed. It woke me up but in the morning I thought I had just dreamed it until someone showed me the news! Pretty scary stuff.
Tomorrow I head to Ancona which is a port town in Italy, from there I catch a ferry to Croatia. I can't wait, just hope the weather clears up by then!!!

mum Earthquakes bring a whole new meaning to the old cliche..."Did the earth move for you...."? You certainly are getting about a bit Cyd.... in tonight's class everyone was saying how brave you are taking on the world alone and I guess you are ( or bloody stupid)!! Hope your adventures continue to amaze and inspire you.... have you found anywhere to compare with home yet?
