We landed in Ho Chi Minh City after a relaxing flight where we collected our bags and headed out to meet our tour guide, Tre, and get on the bus. With a slight change in the itinerary we headed off to the War Remnants museum, where we had a good look around and had time to take in all the information. It was a very confronting and amazing experience. Not only learning more about the Vietnam War but seeing the real effects on the country and people and being there and seeing it for ourselves. After that we headed to lunch for another amazing meal before heading to the Cu Chi tunnels. These were also amazing! We had a tour around, seeing how small the tunnels were, the traps and defence the Viet Cong used, got to see some of the rooms they had in the tunnels and get an understanding of how they lived and worked during the war before heading down into the tunnels ourselves and seeing how far we could get, with exits every 20m. Some even made it the whole way! Although the tunnels have been modified nowadays to fit people in the western world inside, it was still an amazing experience. We then carried on our tour seeing just how smart the Viet Cong were, and then we came across the shooting range, where the boys eyes lit up - especially Tyler's. We had a quick stop for them to get some bullets and try out the guns. It's fair to say that made a lot of people's day. The tour then finished with a speaker explaining the tunnels in more depth with a model tunnel system so we could see it even better.
We then headed back on the bus into Ho Chi Minh City where we checked into our hotel and then had free time in the city to do some shopping, have a look around and get some dinner before heading off back to bed. It was certainly a very eye opening but amazing day!
