Today we started the day off nice and early with Tai Chi on the sundeck. Nice and relaxing although very hot. We then went onto kayaking and visiting the Ha Long pearl farm. Some of us chose to kayak around the pearl farm in the sadly rubbish-filled water for a look, some went through the pearl farm and got to see how the pearls were made and the different processes and stages they had to go through to get the pearls we see today, while others stayed aboard the ship and relaxed. We then boarded the ship again to pack our bags and settle bills before a nice buffet lunch in the ship's restaurant. To finish the cruise off we spent time sight seeing from the sun deck as we cruised back to the wharf. What a relaxing, adventurous and enjoyable time aboard. Such a beautiful part of the world but sad to see it tainted by human irresponsibility with so much litter floating in the water.
Once the cruise was over we hopped back on the bus heading towards the airport. We had another stop at Dai Viet where many of us sat down and tried some traditional foods for lunch, like the deep fried spring rolls. Our bus trip then took us for a stop at some rice farms where we got to see Vietnamese farming in action. We saw the farmers working their fields and planting the crops. Very different from farming back home but very interesting. We also learnt about how the farming works and the way they get land. The rest of the bus trip was spent streaming the All Blacks vs Lions test because we couldn't miss out!
We arrived at the airport in Hanoi where we checked in and said goodbye to our awesome tour guide for the past four days - Tony. He helped us check in, with some odd new travels rules and then we carried on through security where we waited at our gate. Waiting time was spent well, charging phone and relaxing, and hooking up the teachers on snap chat and showing them how to work it. Certainly a few laughs had. Our flight was delayed by an hour due to weather (thunder and lightening) but we took off anyway with a few excited and a few scared people.
We arrived in Danang, pretty exhausted after another big day, where we met our new tour guide and boarded the bus to head to dinner in Hoian.
