Today we left our hotel in Lima for a night away. We hoped on a really nice bus, it had leather recliner seats with on board entertainment!. The road trip from Lima to Paracas took 4 hours. We travelled through mostly desert areas with some river valleys and areas that had crops. There where many shanty looking towns along the way. It is hard to imagine so many people living in single room 'houses' with no electric, running water etc. We saw many areas that where surrounded by high mud brick walls but with nothing in them, apparently you can build even the simplest place on someone else's land and live there, scawatting is not illegal, so people put up brick walls to stop them, sort of...
After the drive we arrive at the Doubletree Hilton Resort out in the middle of nowhere!! It's amazing. has about 6 pools and all waterfront. Unfortunately we do not get to fly over the Nazca Lines today due to the weather and it's on hold until tomorro. So we went to the closest little town. Very small with a few eat places and some market style stalls . They are doing alot of building along this area which faces the ocean so I think it will be a fairly major tourist area soon enough.
After an amazing dinner it's off to bed to be up early for a full on day going to the Ballestas islands then doing the fly over nazca and then the 4 hour bus trip back to Lima
