Hi guys, we have done so much over the past week and a half! First off after Bangkok we went to a lovely place called Ayattaya. The people were so friendly, we went on a boat trip around the city which was full of so many great sights. We stayed with a crazy 80 year old lady who just wanted to party and we can honestly say we have never seen anyone sink a pint so quickly!!! We stayed there for three days and the only bad thing that happend was that kay got eaten alive by the mozzys!!! 11 in one night! Next we got on a night train which took us on a 13 hours ride to Chaing Mai. The train was really cool, we had really comfy chairs which folded down into really squidgy beds, the quickest 13 hours ever!! zzzzz! When we got to Chaing Mai we were really surprised at how nice the hotel was and were chuffed because there was a swimming pool with a diving board and slide!!! The night before we started our trek we had a meeting with the ten other people that would be doing the journey with us. There was a couple from holland, one from belgium, one from germany, two girls from canada and two lads from essex. We were really looking forward to the trip but were a little worried about the people as they were really quiet and didnt seem too amused by the essex lads loudness! Anyway the first day of the trek was good but bloody knackering! we didnt realise it would be that hard! we really were treking straight through the jungle. there was no planned route to follow just a tribal man infront of us (jungle king simon) with a masheti! Along the way we even saw three pigs having a jolly time!
We arrived at the camp and saw that our sleeping arrangements consisted of one bamboo hut in the middle of a tribal village with 12 mats and mozzy nets, it was pretty cool though. We all sat around a large wooden table to have some food and a few bevvies. This turned into many drinks, everyone getting on brilliantly and having such a laugh....we all sat around a camp fire singing songs along to a guitar and the night even ended with reece trying a jungle specialty- raw maggots and wasps!!!!! sooooo disgusting (he quite liked the wasp tho)!!!!!!!!! the next day there was more trekking which was even harder and kay went on her ass twice....once down a really steep hill, going flying past reece!! we saw loads of deadly spiders and snakes! That night our camp was next to an amazing water fall. We had two man bamboo huts surrounding another camp fire and had to wash in the waterfall which was amazing!!! we all went for a midnight swim after a few, it really was fantastic we loved it! and kay even tried spicy jungle frog soup, which was just whole frogs floating in a bowl with there tongues sticking out, was surprisingly nice!!!
The last days trek wasnt too hard except when we had to cross over a river on a log, the guy from holland who is a really funny guy had to back accross the log to get his crying girlfriend who was scared of crosssing and on his way back after saving her he slipped off and was clinging on upside down for dear life it really was the funniest thing we have ever seen a proper youve been framed moment! We trekked to an elephant park where we went on an elephant ride in the jungle which was good but we didnt like they way our guide treated the elephant so wouldnt go there again. We then went water rafting on a bamboo raft. All the other groups had a nice peaceful ride, but our guide decided to bash us into all the rock and we nearly fell of so many times, it was so much fun.
Anyway there is so much to tell about the jungle, we could be here all day. Basically it was the most fantastic thing we have ever done with the most fantastic group of people. Everone was so nice, and when we got back to the hotel, we all went drinking together every night untiil we all left.
We then had another quick stop off in Bangkok before heading west to a place called Kanchanaburi, which is on the river Kwia. We have now been there for two days and are just starting to check out the sights, seems like another really nice chilled place with loads of cheap beer. Hope everyone is well, catch up soon.
