Ok guys its been really hard to fill in this thing as everywhere we have been the internet has been quite expensive and this takes quite awhile, so i will add a few blogs at a time rather than a long one! Kanchanaburi was really good, we stayed in a great place on the river kwia with hammocks on palm trees in the gardens and gorgeous weather. We went to see another amazing water fall in a national park which had perfect turquiose water. The only problem was i was absolutely petrified of the fish, there were hundreds and they were huge!!!! it took me 45 minutes to get off a rock i took shelter on......reece did not find this funny at all!!!!!!! (he took a 5 minute video of me begging for his help)! We then did some more elephant riding which was fantastic, much much better than the first time, it was especially hilarious when our guy got off the elephant to take pictures for us and our elephant made a run for the jungle!!! it was so funny, he was just so greedy and wanted to eat everything in sight! Goit some great pics which we will add as soon as we can. We then went to see the death railway and went on the train which was really cool, i cant believe they still allow trains across that thing, its so dangerous!!!
We really enjoyed Kanchanaburi, it was really relaxed and there was so much to see and do!
After Kanchanaburi we got back to Bangkok which has slowly become a sort of home for us, we have gone from not really liking it at all at first to loving it! Once there we booked our trip tp Cambodia....now that was a trip we really will never forget, When we arrived we were told that there were no ATMs in the country so we had to exchange our money at the border, we were weiry of this but we met a canadian guy on the bus who said he was sure he had read something about it before. So anyway it turned out that it was in fact a scam as cambodia has ATMs around everycorner!!!! They only got about 30 pounds but that is alot to us......the canadian guy who thought it was a good idea however lost alot more, about 100! So there we were thinking that this journey would be a complete nightmare, especially after our tour guide told us that everyone in Cambodia are only after one thing....money and they do anything to get it (oh and reece informed me when we got there that he just remembered that his friend was mugged at gun point when he travelled there) we felt so safe especially due to the fact there are no street lights!!!!! Anyway you may not believe it but Cambodia was really good. Our tour guy was a great man who took us anywhere we wanted to go all day long for a set price and told us so much about the country and the Paul pot regime....truly awful, we saw pictures of victims and a tomb full of hundreds of skulls found in surrounding fields! Whilst there we visited the main attaction Angkor Wat. The tombs are amazing, the architecture was fab, we got some great pics and went to see where tomb raider was filmed which was reallly cool. They only bad thing was that the place is full of little kids trying to sell you things, when you dont buy anything they pretend to start crying and its horrible! Some are quite funny tho and play trivia games with you trying to convice you to buy! We really enjoyed our time there tho!
Although we saw loads of lovely things in Cambodia, the highlight of the trip has to be the bus journey home!!! It was both so bizarre and funny at the same time, basically this is what happened in order.......
The guy we met from Canada spent the whole time in Cambodia with us and before leaving Bangkok we arranged our transport back. This guy Mike however had not. He therefore decided to tag along and get the bus with us and booked a ticket. So the day came for us to be picked up at 7 in the morning, so being organised we woke at 6 and got to the guest house reception for half past. We waited and waited and waited some more, all the time asking the hotel people where the bus was. So half 8 came and two guys arrived on mopeds and told us to jump on as there had been a mistake and our bus had gone with out us so they had to take us to get a completely different one (This was due to the fact that they had mistaken mike for us and picked him up rather than us, they had crossed our names off the list due to his booking)! This made us slightly annoyed as the night before we had told Mike taht we would make sure that the bus definately didnt forget him.....the favour was clearly not returned. So we finally got on a bus and as we were additions there was only one seat so reece had to settled down for the 12 and a half hour journey back to Bangkok sitting on his bag in the isle of the oldest bus you have ever seen!
Within half an hour we got a flat tyre! The roads in Cambodia can not really be called roads, more like mud tracks so this was not at all surprising. So we pulled over and waited outside in the sun for half an hour while they set the inner tube of the tyre alight to fix it. Luckly this happened right outside a tyre shop so there wasnt too much worry. At this point we were thinking that we were having really bad luck...... however this was just the beginning! We carried on along the road for about an hour when we passed a muddy puddle the size of a paddling pool at the exact same time as a car came speeding through the puddle. All of the people sat on the right hand side of the bus had there windows open and all i can say is the contents of the puddle were no longer on the road, everyone on that side got completely drenched in filthy water, litterly covered!!! It was one of the funniest things we have ever seen, luckily we were on the left hand side so we could laugh! Our bags got6 soaked but we got lucky. At that exact moment however we recieved our second blow out!!!! Lady luck was really shining on us that day!
This time we were in the middle of nowhere with only cows for company! We had to wait in the boiling sun for around an hour while the driver attempted to take the wheel of with the most basic tools ever, simply metal pole! This understandably took ages but allowed the muddy people to wash in a stream! all we could do was laugh and laugh, we were really waiting to see jeremy beeadle (opps maybe not)! After getting the tyre off we drovew to another shop to get another spare. The driver simply told us all to get off and drove off saying he would be back in 2 minutes. Half an hour later and we were still left weondering and hoping he would return, however we just found this all so funny we didnt even think about the fact we could be stranded. After a few more minutes the driver did return and we finally got on our way and somehow made it back to Bangkok at half 10 at night, although i have no idea how we made it!
We have done so much since Cambodia and have travelled to the south to and Island called Koh Pangnan where we stayed for a week and have now moved on the Krabi......I will write soon filling you all in on the events there. Love to everyone x x x x x x
( Opps have just read over this and have noticed that i said it wouldnt be a long one)!
