Ok so the next of the Thai islands was Lanta. now this really was just a place to chill and do some serious detoxing after Phi Phi!!!!
We arrived and checking into our bungalow which other than having the shower outside was really nice. We spent our first night walking along the never ending beach which is aptly named long beach!!! All along the front are sea food resturants from the days catch, we had a look and found the biggest prawns we had ever seen!!! they were bigger than the fishermans hands and they were big!!!!! We got back to the hut at around 11 and just planned on a chilled out, early night......this was the plan until the strange noises started!!!!! It came from the roof which was made of mdf (classy!) and started off as just a scuttling sound which frightened the hell out of us the first time we heard it as it was so loud!!! The noise went on all night but seemed to get louder as though whatever it was had gained some company!!! We hardly slept a wink that night as kay was actually really quite scared!! We never figured out what it was as it made far too much sound to be a rat or cat but then we had no idea how anything bigger could have got up there! (must have been the boogy man!!!) Needless to say we checked out the next morning!!!
We moved across the road to a really nice bungalow with a hot shower yay! first one in two months!!!!!! We finally also bought ourselves a mozzy net (even bigger yay)! Still doesnt stop the b*****s while your out but at least helps with a soundful nights sleep!
The next day was spent on the beach, as usual it was lovely, not as nice as phi phi but still nicer than many we have seen before. as you can see from the pics reece yet again managed to find some locals to play football with, which allowed some much sought after sunbathing!!!! (boring), (as you can guess not much sunbathing has taken place as reece wants to play all day!!)
That night we went to the local marina and found a restuarant which had the largest projector screen ever! This was therefore the perfect location for reeces saturday night football (yes please). There they had a buffet style resturant where you chose an assortment of raw meats and veg and you had a large coal fire cooking pot/stand thingy in which you could cook all of the food. It was really really cool and we really enjoyed it........well this was until a few hours later when we got back to the room, reece began complaining that he didnt feel well and that he was really cold (even though it was still over 30 degrees and even hotter in the room! he then proceeded to be violently sick for the next half an hour! (no thankyou sir)! It was really worrying because he shook all nigh t complaining about the cold even though he was wrapped up in a big fluffy fleece and it was absolutely boiling!!!! Dengue fever was even thought to be on the cards!!!!! arggggh. So strange as he woke up in the morning feeling absolutely fine, just a bit sore. He blames the food and my cooking but still have no idea what was actually wrong!
The next day we found out that not far down the road there was a mini golf pitch and put. So we gave it ago.........it was the hardest bloody thing in the world, it was impossible to put anything! (queston......... If there is an obsticle in the way do you have to go through it or around it or is it legal to chip the ball over the obsticle?) anyway.........although hard it was great fun (regardless of a few tantrums and disagreements!! on cheating that wasnt cheating!) After that we headed to the beach of course and played in the really big waves like five year olds for hours...that was until kay got stung by a jelly fish and refused to go back in the water!!!
We heard that it is possible to watch championship football on the tv in thailand and there was the big southampton plymouth game on that evening so we made it our mission that night to find some saddo that would play it! luckily where we were staying said that they would play it for us at four in the morning. so up we got in the middle of the night munchies and all fumbled our way to find the remote and power switch for ages only to find the bloody match wasnt bein shown anyway!! The result was 0-0 anyway so better we didnt watch it!
Not much else really happened in Koh Lanta , we really did just chill on the beach and grab a couple of much needed early nights! From there it was on to the tiny island of Koh Lipe, or last stop off in Thailand :(
