Bonne de douche sholing, crossed the Laos border on Saturday then took a 6 hour boat journey up the Mekong river where we stayed in some shady village where most of the villagers were waiting at the wall where the boat rocked up waiting to see us and take our bags for us, I kept hold of mine! Was like they never seen white people before just staring at ya was bit freaky ha. Then we had a 5 minute walk to the guest house but it was a narrow road with tiny little shacks and markets either side and it was like an old deserted town like out the spaghetti western movies where they're waiting for a shoot off and there was just people in the windows watchin you, I was half expecting a little guitar hero doll hanging from the door frame with pins in it ha but they turned out to be ok to be fair they were just shy and dint speak any language other than theirs. We went out to a small restaraunt down the road and I had buffalo with noodles and spring rolls to start me off was lovely jubbly! I tried buffalo skin too it was decent like a pork scratchin but bit more chewy! Then the next day we jumped back on the boat for a few hours till we got to some part of the river and beached the boat and went to some home stay where they cook for ya and put you up for the night but cus they're religious it's same sex only unless ya married so that threw a spanner in my works for a night ha. We went out for dinner to some shack in the village and we all had to take our flip flops off to enter the place, they only had warm beer so we hit the whisky! when we was done we squared the drinks up and made our way back to the home stay place, I went to put me flippy floppys on but they weren't there I thort some thievin gypsy had half inched them and everyone was like well these are mine bla bla bla and I thort crap it I gonna be without me feet for a few days, then this Lao bird carrying a baby on her back walked up and took my flip flops off and just walked in like nothing happened haha we wet ourselves she just burrowed them to go round the village haha like ya do. We had to do some voodoo stuff with the locals and listen to some matey smashin his bongos then they gave us 3 shots of their home made whisky which was like acetone and made us eat a cracker for good luck, I reckon they were just tryna get us pissed up tho ha. Then we had to have some locals tie a string round our wrists for good luck, I want bothered so thort yeah go on then I'll have a dabble with the others, when in Rome like, then bout 30 villagers came in givin it the witch craft hum swingin they're arms and joss sticks flowin holding a crap load of string, 15 minutes later I got 2 arms covered in string! I said I'll just take it off when I leave but the Lao people was like na you gotta keep it on for 3 days or you get bad luck and it's disrespectful so I'm currently wrapped in 8 days long worth of string! We had to do a boogie with the kids and put a flower in ya ear and throw some shapes around the fire, I was like do the geezers have to have the flower or just the birds and they were like you have it and popped it in my hair, I felt like Karl pilkington a cheddar abroad doin some ritual I ain't got a clue about. Then after bout 3 dances shakin my junk and wavin me hands about tryna copy the kids they changed the music to somethin we'd know so obviously it was gangnam style ha we was pretty whisky'd up so we was givin it large round the fire to a jungle massive boom box doin the dance with the kids they were quality movers ha was crease up. It was Mother's Day yesterday and we was in the thick of some mountain village where they get their rocks off on rolling a old bike wheel to each other and a ball in a cup jobby so they don't even know what wifi is so I had no signal to call mummy for Mother's Day, sorry bout that mum ha. We went to a waterfall today in the mountains where you can jump off into the pools was bangin stuff! Just gonna have a few beers then get showered up to go to the town for food and beers. Off to vang vieng tomoro where I'll stay for a few days as meant to be quality nightlife. Weathers still sweet here so you need a lot of cold beer to cool ya down! Ive done my 5th week now only 11 to go it's goin fast! Anyways one will catch you later, guitar hero
