Hello from Arusha, the gateway to the Serengeti and the Ngorogoro Crater. We spent 11 hours on the truck yesterday getting from Dar Es Salaam to Marangu... which was a lovely way to spend Marisa's birthday!!!I t was better on arrival, as we got a free upgrade to a room with three single beds but the real score was having a roof coz it rained all night (and those in tents got soaked). Oh, and it's always cool to say you had your 25th birthday at the base of Mt Kilimanjaro. The thing is, due to the low cloud we've only really seen the base of Kilimanjaro, so no good pictures I'm afraid.
I'll be taking plenty in the next few days as we have visit to the snake park (live feeding involves guinea pigs and chicks), Masai Village walk, then a 3 day/2 night excursion to the Serengeti/Ngorogoro, which should be an awesome way to end our African Tour.
Hopefully we'll see a few more of the postcard animals (cheetah, leopard, rhino, flamingo) which we haven't come across yet. Once we get to Europe, I'll try to upload some videos (kids dancing on Kande Beach, daddy giraffe teaching his son to fight, snake eating a guinea pig [fingers crossed]).
