The routine of the previous day was repeated when Chris and I headed again to the bakery for brunch. Afterwards we headed up to Derek’s hostel to see if he was about. We discovered him in his room, debriefed about our goings on since last seeing him and came to the conclusion that there wasn’t yet a plan for the group meetup that evening, the last where all the Stray bus would be together. Chris and I headed back to the hostel where I spent a couple of hours on the mundane tasks of laundry sorting and photo organising. Once that was done we headed into town, I booked my bungee for Saturday, and ran into a number of other strays. We made a tentative plan to meet at World bar later and Chris and I went to use the internet for a while.
That evening Chris and I cooked once again, this time a lime and ginger stir-fry, before it was time to meet the others at World. We’d colonised the back room and were soon camped around a large table awash with teapots. Colonising and teapots, it all felt decidedly British for a moment! Anyway, the multicultural group were soon babbling away and Sarah and I decamped to the pool table for a rematch. With a couple of drinks in me I fared much better and gained some small pride back for Hatfield and followed up with a couple of mixed (in performance and gender) doubles games. The group consensus then came to moving on and strangely it was the girls who were pressing for us to head onto Buffalo’s before the wet t-shirt contest began. Us lads were momentarily confused by this enthusiasm until the contest started and the reason became clear. The girls began to deconstruct every foible and fault of every one of the girls on the bar, they had come to b****! After the spirited contest ended we had a good boogie on the tables and chairs until the bar started to empty out and we decided to give World another go. We headed in but our hearts weren’t really in it any more and we decided to go have a Fergburger (massive tasty burgers available until 5am every night!) and head to bed.
