Our first day in Denmark, we were met at the airport and driven by limo to the beautiful and modern Tivoli Hotel and Congress Center. Greeted by our tour director Helena, got our room keys and given lots of "love letters" or informational things to know, we headed to our room which I love and the shower with dual shower heads and heated towel racks I want to duplicate at home. Since we are staying in the executive suites, we have access to cake and tea in the afternoon, complimentary wine, beer, and snacks at five, and of course a free breakfast each morning. This evening, we went to the social hour and informational meeting and then headed to Tivoli Gardens for a stroll and dinner. Tivoli Gardens established in the early 1800's was visited by Disney was an inspirational force behind Disneyland. Numerous theaters, rides, entertainment, and restaurants are in this gem of a park in the middle of the city and ten minute walk from our hotel. We watched part of the production at the pantomime peacock stage and admired the numerous blooming tulips and flowers that rivaled Pella's Tulip Time. The peacocks on the grounds showed off their beautiful tails and the lighting on the buildings and water features delighted all. Our meal at the restaurant included red and white wine, shrimp cocktail with the best caviar I've ever eaten, melt in your mouth chicken or veal, scrumptious breads, and finished with the "to die for" chocolate torte garnished with mint and edible flowers, a caramel dollop, and vanilla bean ice cream. After dinner we strolled around the grounds some more before boarding our bus back to the hotel and our inviting king sized bed that had been beckoning us all day.
