Dave has had to work in the day so me and Christine have just been popping to the local markets ETC its been nice just chilling and having lazy days its also given me a chance to pop over to the gym and get some training done.
I have managed to nearly get arrested LOL, After i finished in the gym i decided i would run back to the complex its only a mile up the road, on the way i came across this dirt track in the forest near our complex so i decided to have a look so i carried on running along it but it started to get narrower till in the end it was a single forested trail wide enough for one person it was getting steeper and steeper this went on for ages i was struggling to actually walk up it.
I finally i got to the top i realized i was on top of this mountain, i now know its called the purple mountain which you can see from the complex so i came down the other side but i was totally lost and ended up hopping over this wall got chased by guard dogs i had only jumped into an army barracks so i was quickly asked to leave.. i finally got down the mountain not before i went arse over tit and split my knee open etc but it was a good run. I managed to flag a taxi down and get him to drop me of at the complex. That afternoon after i cleaned myself up, Christine got her driver to take me to have a look around some local historical sights.
Nanjing is one of China's more attractive major cities. It sports a long historical heritage and has twice served briefly as the nation's capital, firstly in the early years of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) and second as the capital of the Republic of China in the early years of the 20Th century. There is a lot of sights that date back to the Ming Dynasty so i Started at Ming Xiaoling tomb this lies on the Southern slope of Zijin Shan, Construction began in 1381 and was finished in 1383 the emperor died at the age of 712 in 1393. The first section of the avenue leading up to the mausoleum is lined with stone statue's of Lion's, Camels, Elephants and Horses there's also a mythical animal called Xie Zhi which has a mane and a single horn on its head - and a Qilin which has a scaly body, a cows tail, deers hooves and one horn. Next you come across the Linghun Pagoda a mammoth rectangular stone structure behind the tower is a wall 350m in diameter, surrounding a huge earth mound. Beneath this mound is the tomb vault of Hongwu which has not been excavated. The area surrounding the tomb is the Ming Xiaoling scenic area, A tree lined stone pathway winds around pavilions and picnic grounds and ends at the Zixia Lake. I spent most of the afternoon walking around this area it was really nice as the weather was lovely there was lots of tour groups walking around as well. I jumped in a taxi and headed of home where we just spent the evening chilling and chatting. Catch up soon
