Tassie Trip 2015
Day 11
Hobart - MONA - Granada Tavern.
Wow that 40 seasons in a single day just keeps on giving. The last 2 days have been a seesaw between cyclonic winds , ferocious rain and glorious sunshine and a combination of all 3 at the same time. This must be the only place where that can happen?
Having survived another night of battering winds and rain on Thursday night, we spent Friday morning at MONA - the Museum of old and new things. It was quite fascinating - and eye opening as well! Everyone got an iPod to tour the museum to make the experience that much more enjoyable. They even have their own vineyard in the grounds. They have their MONA FOMA festival on his weekend so it was that much busier. We departed there under more cloudy skies and returned to the Dove for lunch and to watch another mini cyclone tear through the place. We've seen at least 10 tents ripped to shreds over the last 2 days! Snapped poles and ripped flys or even just whipped up and blown metres away. Crazy stuff.
We cyclone proofed the Dove with more ropes and then settled in for a couple of our spoils from our Cascade visit.
We had planned to wander the waterfront and find a nice restaurant to celebrate our anniversary but the weather put paid to that and so it was back to the local tavern just down the road within walking distance for our celebratory feast. We had a great night of laughs, wine and music and luckily managed to stroll home without getting wet. Only lasted for about 10 mins though.
We drove a total of 4 kms today!
Tomorrow we are off rain hail cyclone or shine to the Salamanca Markets in town.
