Townsville

After Ingham, we drove 100kms south to Townsville and the first of our two house sits in the area. For three weeks we stayed on a one acre property 20kms north of the city and looked after two greyhounds and a husky while the owners holidayed on the Gold Coast. This gave us a great opportunity to see the sights of Townsville including great views from Castle Hill in the city centre, many walks along the Strand which is the beach and foreshore area of the city, as well as a day trip to Magnetic Island 7kms offshore (very like Rottnest Island off Perth). We then moved to our second house sit for two weeks, to 30kms south of Townsville on a 180 acre property with nine horses, one cat, a jack Russell terrier, a Boxer/Great Dane cross, a cockatiel, a Blue Mountain Parrot and some fish! The property had spectacular views to the nearby mountains and, like the other house sits we have done, was a great experience and something completely different for us.
