Cooktown
After spending just short of a month at Atherton in the lovely tablelands west of Cairns, we spent a night at Granite Gorge where we got close up and personal with numerous Mareeba Rock Wallabies as well as some strenuous rock climbing (see Christine's photo).
We then headed up the York Peninsula stopping over night at Mt Carbine with its many birds and wildlife before driving to Endeavour Falls about 32Km north of Cooktown. While seeing the sights of Cooktown and scouting about the area visiting the local falls and waterholes (no crocs in sight!), we met up with a lady who Dave used to work with nearly 36 years ago when he first came to Australia! We could not believe that this happened when we were at our furthest point away from Perth which was incidentally some 6444 kilometres away!!
