October 12 We adventured again to the Continental Divide, heading south from Glenwood Springs through Aspen and then up from 7,900 ft to 12,000 ft. At the Continental Divide, there was a hike that took you across the crest of three peaks. We were a bit disappointed that the elk didn't return for a farewell visit to our campsite, but it was time to make our way west. Almost immediately upon leaving our campground, we headed west through the RMNP on the Trail Ridge Road. October 9 We left Loveland early, headed for the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). It was a good thing we arrived early because the campground ended up full shortly after we got our site, and the line up to get into the park was close to a mile long. We got a great site overlooking the meadows with nothing blocking our view. We headed out to Bear Lake for hiking and had to park in the overflow parking and take a shuttle to the hiking area. Our first stop was the Visitor's Centre where we received lots of information about Colorado. We enjoyed a 5 km hike on Devil's Backbone that didn't begin to cover the entire route but we had to get back for Game 1. We found a bar in town where we were the only patrons interested in the game. What a tense game. Unfortunately the good guys lost.

We left South Dakota and travelled through Nebraska. North western Nebraska was somewhat hilly with many cattle farms. As we got further south, it became very flat with wheat being the primary crop. We stopped at Scott's Bluff which was most of the way through Nebraska as we wanted to see the "monuments".
