Hello everyone! Im sorry that I have not been posting on here lately, but it seems as though time has been flying and I have been very busy trying to get a new job, focus on my life, and really soaking up those memorable moments that life has to offer. I have been looking for a new job for months and have had a couple of interviews, but still have had no luck. So that has basically been my focus for the past few months, but this weekend I was finally able to escape everyday life and go up north to the mountains in Arizona. My family and I decided to travel to Sedona and it was a perfect decision given how much attention I have given finding a new job.
We left yesterday right before noon and quickly made our way up north using the various interstates around town. Once we made it up further north, past where the Valley of the Sun starts, we entered some beautiful country in the area of Black Canyon and Bumblebee. Both of these towns are really fascinating and offer excellent science views if you are looking for beautiful mountain views. Unfortunately right around this point we ran into an accident on the highway so it added an extra hour onto our travel time. Once we got towards Black Canyon we decided to exit to use the bathroom and take a break from sitting in the car so we went to Rons Market located in the older part of Black Canyon. This market was your typical mountain market with food and beverages, an older style bathroom, and an older style building. The food up here however was not as cheap as it is at home and be prepared to pay an arm and a leg if you decide to buy something from here!
As we continued heading north we ran into some afternoon rain and thunderstorms which was nice because we don't get a lot of storms in the valley. The rain made for an absolutely breathtaking sight as it poured down upon the mountain valleys to the west and offered a few glimpses of lightning. About an hour and a half later we made it into Sedona and once you make it into the town itself you immediately know you have arrived because of the fantastic scenery that the region has to offer. As you enter the town you are immediately surrounded by lush green grass, running water throughout the region, and lots of red sand and rock. The red rock is what Sedona is famous for because it surrounds the entire area and makes for fantastic photo opportunities. As you make your way throughout the town, you will eventually reach the downtown area where a lot of the tourists flock. Here you will find various shops, cute little motels and hotels to stay in if you are planning on spending the night, and lots of cozy restaurants and eateries. The downtown really helps to capture the true essence of the town and really helps to add to the overall experience.
If you do choose to stay in Sedona for one day or even a couple of days there is a lot of stuff to keep you occupied. You can go on a jeep tour around the region with Pink Jeep Tours which offers both a 90 minute and two hour ride. You will have to pay quite a bit of money to experience the jeep tour, but overall I would imagine that it is well worth what you will experience and the sights that you will encounter. There are other various things to do around town as well such as renting an ATV, going to Slide Rock and sliding down the river with plenty of other travelers, hiking throughout the beautiful, lush green landscape, or just walking downtown. Whatever you choose to do you will definitely not get bored here because there is plenty to do. When you are ready to call it a day there are lots of various cabins, hotels, and motels for you to stay at. Some of the hotels that we saw around town included a Hyatt and a Best Western Plus. There are also some independent motels and cabins which all offer excellent views of the mountainside and surrounding red rock.
I hope that you definitely choose to travel to Sedona if you are visiting or if you live in the valley itself. You definitely won't regret the views that you will encounter or the fun memories that you will create. If you want you can also head about 15 minutes further north and you will run into another cute and cozy town known as Flagstaff. This is a college town, but it has some cute shopping, lots of restaurants, and a ton of fantastic scenery that will take your breathe away!
