Hi everyone! I hope you are having a good week so far. I am sleepy from not getting much sleep last night, but things like that happen once in a while especially when its really hot during the day and too hot to sleep in bed at night :-)
Anyways, last Saturday I went to the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium in Litchfield Park with my brother and sister. If you haven't been while you aren't exactly missing out on much. This was my third time visiting the zoo since I moved here last year and I have to say that it is the same exact thing each time that I have been there. Admission to the zoo itself is quite expensive ($29.00 plus tax for adults and $14.25 plus tax for children) and you have to pay an additional amount of money for any activities that you want to do. Fortunately you can typically find a coupon either online or in one of the entertainment books for a buy one, get one free admission so I was able to use that on my brother and got him in for free.
The best part of the zoo is the Dragon World exhibit which allows you to see different species of reptiles up close. Dragon World is a new exhibit that just opened and I would recommend it especially for young boys. Some of the activities throughout the park include: the carousel, the african safari train, the skyride, and the australian boat ride. Each time that we have gone we either do the african safari train or the skyride. I prefer the train over the skyride simply because I am afraid of heights and do not like the feeling of going over different animal pens high up in the sky. If you want to ride any of these rides, then it will cost $2.00 per person for the carousel and the australian boat ride and $4.00 per person for the skyride and african safari train.
On the east side of the zoo is the log ride and the aquarium. I have only been in the aquarium once and thought it was much better the the zoo. The aquarium features many different species of fish and sharks as well a sea turtles and eels. I have never done the log ride, but from what I have heard it is really cool and at the beginning you get to go through a water tunnel with fish swimming around inside of it. So that really helps to add to the overall experience of the ride.
The zoo itself is open everyday of the year from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM. The aquarium is open from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM and you can choose to do both the zoo and aquarium during the day or pay a special price to do just the aquarium after 5:00 PM. If you choose to do just the aquarium, then it is $16.99 plus tax for adults and $8.99 plus tax for children.
If you want to see a zoo in a different type of landscape, then I would recommend this zoo. However, if you are looking for many different species of animals and a clean zoo that doesn't have a lot of dust, then I would recommend that you visit the Phoenix Zoo.
Have fun on your next safari to whatever zoo you might choose!
