Clare's Travels of Oz and NZ
Arrived in Rotorua on Wednesday. Booked myself into a lovely hostel - thank you soazy! - and decided i would go for the Maori feast and concert that evening. Had a great time - so much food it was brilliant and saw them perform the Haka and sing etc. Then came back and went out with some english girls from my room for drinks in the Lava Bar. Imagine Klute (durham) - cheesy music and wooden floors! Struggled to get up Thursday and went to the geothermal wonderland and saw geysers. Got sick of the rotten eggs smell though!! Went to the fat dog cafe for lunch which was cool. Then did rotorua museum which was really good. Unfortunately it was raining all day so not great - the waterproof trousers were certainly useful. Went to the Lava bar again last night for a bit of boogie with the girls - it was great fun i'm glad they adopted me! Today, i got the bus to Taupo and met mary on it. So good to meet up with her as we haven't seen each other since Christmas. Stopped in Taupo and instead of doing Tongariro crossing walk (have to be there really early) we decided to do Huka falls (magnificent waterfall) and the craters of the moon (more geothermal stuff). Also went around a Honey centre which was fun tasting all the different types. We then decided that we wouldnt stay in 'Taupo so have got the bus to wellington saw the mountains along the way. Staying in a lively hostel and we are going to spend the weekend here. We get the ferry to the south island on Monday - can't wait!
