Hi guys,
Sorry about the lack of updates!!! It is proving somewhat diffult to find a computer out in the African bush!!
Needless to say we are having an abolutely awesome time, have met some brilliant people and seen the most incredible things. Africa is a cool place, everything is super size! Big countries, big mountains, big weather and best of all big animals.
So since our last blog we've been through Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar Island, Malawi and now Zambia.
In Kenya we popped in to see and feed the Giraffes, went to an Elephant and Rhino sanctuary, and went on safari for 4 days in the Masai Mara. We will put up the photos soonio.
As for Tanzania, it was the Ngorogoro Crater (which was amazing, a huge national park within a crater, amazing animals and scenery), the Serengetti National Park (lots and lots of Lions and a camp in the bush), climbed up to base camp on Mount Kilimanjaro (4 hours and 3700m!) and then spent 4 blissful and very relaxing days on Zanzibar Island. A nice change from camping and cold showers!
Next we headed into Malawi and the incredible Lake Malawi. This has been our favourite country so far, everyone was so friendly towards the "muzungu", and we didn't spot Madonna. We camped right on the lake in a couple of campsites and had a cool villiage walk and tour over 4 days. The kids were brilliant to be with, we all became mobile climbing frames!
So that pretty much brings us up to date and into Zambia. We have been here for a couple of days. We are staying at a campsite right on the edge of South Luangwa, where the hippos, Elephants and Baboons just roam around your tents and go where they please!!! Clare is a big wuss and spent the night bricking it at every noise outside the tent! They have massive tree houses where you can watch the nights events and lastnight we spent a couple of hours watching huge hippos right underneath us, very cool. We've also had a couple of game drives, one lastnight and a walking safari this morning. The evening safari was the best yet with huge herds of elephants (50 plus) and various other wicked stuff, the highlight being a feast!! A couple of lions had just taken down a couple of Zebras and we turned up just as the vultures had moved in and proceeded to rip it apart! We then came back in the dark and the second Zebra was being eaten by the lion, very cool pics and viewing of the lions head inside the Zebras gut!! We'll put the pics up soon.
Anyway we had better shoot as its time for lunch and you are all probably bored by now!
