sorry i've been lax on updating this, but we arrived in Cairns on the 7th of july. we booked to stay there for 5 days but in hindsight we wouldn't have stayed there that long, it was a great place but there wasn't muych to do unless you're madfe of money- which we're really not! but its a gorgeous place, had a nice lagoon but no beach so me and jim spent a lot of time reading. got really bad bed bugs from the hostel and had to spend $30 on drugs to make me better :) but anyway, there isn't loads to tell about ciarns, it was alright but we shouldn't have spent a whole 5 days there! but themn we went to mission beach and stayed in a great hostel called scotty's, we drank 2 litres of goon (which is wine made with fish eggs and milk) on the first night, met sone cool people and played poker with them, which was good. then... the next day me and jim decided to chuck ourselves out opf a plabne from 14,000 feet- truly exhilerating experience, oh my gods, if you haven't skjydived before, do it. its amazing. can't explain the feeling but its like nothing i've ever experienced before, glad i jumped first, don't know if i could have dealt with seeing jim being hurled from a plane! but yer, twas great! we left mission beach the next day and travelled to townsville where we had to have an overnight stop so we went for a meal and a few drinks, hostel was very prison cell-esk but we're getting used to it! loads of sailors and soldiers in townsville- apparently its got the highest underage pregnancy rate in oz, funny! anyway, we left the next day to go to airlie beach, which is where we are now... i'll let you know how it goes... x
