Hello from a very tired Clare and James. We've been in Byron Bay for four days now. Arrived on Saturday night, met a guy on the bus on the way over who ended up staying in the same place as us. We turned up to find ourselves in our first dorm experience!! We booked a double room, and we got one, but it was in a dorm. So walked in on about 10 people all drinkin wine out of a bag shouting "Slap the Goon!" Quite odd! All friendly enough though. We went into town that night with Adam - the guy from the bus. Had a fun night, lots of beer drank by all. Next day after a nice long sleep we headed into town. A lot smaller than we first imagined, but plenty going on. Beach is full of surfers, we had fun laughing at the ones falling off! That night, like a little old couple, we were tucked up in bed by 10 - bless us! Next day we woke to here there was a Tsunami warning!! Obv we were pretty worried! Apparently the quake was 8.1 on the rictor scale!! We went to the beach to see what was going on and it seemed no one else was bothered! Beach was full and still plenty of people surfing - tis the way of Byron Bay. Luckily the tsunami didn't hit so all was ok. That day we pretty much stayed on the beach, went swimming. Got back to the dorm and got chatting to Martin and Meta from Denmark. Few drinks in the dorm then headed into town. Had the strongest Mohitos in the world!!! So we were all pretty drunk to say the least!! Next day was Clare's Bday - Hurrah!! We had booked kayaking with Dolphins the day before - had to be up at 8!! Mohitos did not seem like such a good idea at that time in the morning! Anyway had a really good time kayaking, and did get to see some Dolphins pretty close up which was cool - although the sea sickness did start to kick in after a while - nothing to do with the hangover of course!! After that we went home for a sleep, then headed back out for a walk. Headed towards the lighthouse, the walk was really nice, you walk through a forrest and we got to see two HUGE lizards in the wild. That night we went for a curry, first one in 6 weeks - yum! Not the same as home tho - boo. Headed back to the dorm and starting playing drinking games with Martin, Meta and a Scottish guy called Dave. Oh and random stoned man! He was very odd! So was all spinning and animal noises galore - really! Headed into town and went to one of the local clubs, had a good night. Today we are movin to surfers paradise - we are very excitied because we get our own bathroom - no more sharing.. ah simple things in life!!
