Wanaka
On the bus journey to Queenstown we stopped off quickly in a quaint little town, Wanaka. Their were a few Attractions in Wanaka that appealed to us so decided to go back on ourselves. We are soooo glad we did as think we have had the most peaceful few days of our lives in the most beautiful place ever. (not so beautiful pictures attached). The view from our hostel was the best in town overlooking the lake and snow topped mountains and to top it off. Summer has finally arrived in New Zealand and we really could appreciate the beauty.
whilst in Wanaka we went to a place called 'Puzzling World' it was so much fun. It has rooms full of optical illusions. Some of them I still can't figure out. I.e. Water going up hill.
There was also a massive maze to walk round. We all separated and had to reach 4 coloured corners. Take a picture to prove we were there and then meet at the finish. Sarah won and completed in about 40 mins. An hour later me and shell were STILL frantically trying to find the exit. In the end after climbing a fence, I found an Emergency Exit. It got me there all the same hehe. Shell completed without cheating a few mins after. Was really fun to run round like kids.
The following day we went to watch Twilight at Cinema Paradiso. The selling point of the cinema is that you watch the film on living room sofas. Sooo comfy! They have an interval half way through where they have home made warm cookies waiting for you and also provide a blanket in winter months. Perfect way to watch a film. I surprised myself at how much I enjoyed the film. Girls you should be proud considering I had only seen the first one - and I'm now all about Team Jacob!! Phwoar!
We are becoming quite the stereotype traveller now. Saving money by jumping at any opportunity of a free offer. There was a poster in our hostel saying "Free BBQ, Sponsored by some local folk who Love god and enjoy serving people". We subtly walked passed pretending we didnt know what was going on and they offered us free food. We were expecting to be preached on but even though they had a little talk about religion and how us travellers rule the world (I agree :p) the organiser was very funny and genuinely doing it from the kindness of his heart. Aaawwwww!
I heart Wonaka!
