After Aukland we travelled down to Rotarua where we stayed in our first hostel 'Base Hostel' We were lucky enough to have the dorm to ourselves both nights but it was so good to be in a social environment and meeting fellow travellers. Free barbecue both nights which we took completed advantage of.
We went to Hells Gate a natural Geo Thermal Park. The park is full of natural springs with 3 different types of mud. Google it if you want to find out more. :p
It absolutely reeked of Egg from the sulphur. In-fact two showers on and I still smell of fart. Once over the smell of the baby poo it was a lovely place. It was so natural that it freaked me out a little. Once we did the tour of the park we went and sat in a mud bath and caped ourselves in mud for half hour then got into a Sulphur pool. It's meant to be real good for your skin but Shell and Sarah had to get out early ad it reacted with their skin and eyes. After the park we went back and cooked ourselves out first ever meal in a hostel, pasta in a packet and toast.
